This is the first question we get when someone sees one of the speaking roses. Most of the time people think the live roses are silk or fake. To answer this question, we have a process that will take any image or saying and emboss it directly to a live rose.
We use high quality roses that we investigate and monitor the cold transport in order to obtain the freshest and longest life to our roses as possible. All of our roses are stored in cold storage until we emboss them then go back into cold storage until they are shipped. The average life should be 7-10 days after you receive them.
Again, to guarentee their freshness, we ship all live roses via UPS next day air. We do not have any control over the environment that the roses are in during the shipping process. We do, however; store the roses in refrigeration at least over night before they are shipped. The cost of the next air shipping is the cost we pay to UPS.
8/8/2009 Update: We have now added FedEx shipping and local delivery for the live roses.
Sometimes the roses are left in a hot truck all day and the heat is very detrimental to the delicate rose petals. In fact, as the roses warm up, they come out of their dormant state and begin to open. We suggest the following:
1. Un-package the roses according to the directions supplied with your shipment.
2.Get a glass vase (make sure it is glass...no metal or plastic) fill with water and add the rose food according to the directions.
3. Remove the roses from their water tubes and trim the ends of the roses at an angle and place them in the vase. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU TRIM THE ENDS... the roses will not drink the water if you do not make a fresh cut at the bottom of the rose stem.
4. Place the vase in a cool place (preferably a refrigerator but DO NOT FREEZE) like in a basement or in front of an air conditioner. You need to bring down the temperature of the rose and give it some water/food. Although the roses are cut... the are still live and should react to the environment changes accordingly...
If after a few hours the roses do not come back, contact us immediately... (330) 507-2270 or (330) 872-7221 and we will do everything we can to correct the situation. In the one case where this happened.: we sent a new shipment of silks with the same phrases overnight at our cost.
